Yes... But... As If...
This novel is set on looking, seeing, watching and perceiving, by defining the woman from the eyes of a man. The journalist Seçkin receives an unsigned letter asking him to watch Ilgim closely. At first sight Ilgim seems to be introvert and tranquil but as Seçkin gets closer, he can't help to be attracted to her magical charm. What makes her so special is her courage in choosing to be a woman and her search to harmonise her body and mind.

The author questions the entirety of the body, the nature of relationships, living in the moment but hanging on the past, self-alienation and true freedom, aiming the reader to question themselves. Arikan writes in a delicate, brave and genuine style telling about the journey of a woman setting off to realise her existence and discovery of her own feminity.
