Undressing Herself
Is a woman able to undress herself? This question is the key to woman's never-ending inner journey which requires lots of courage and self-honesty. The protagonist of the novel, Lal, represents the modern type of woman living in the big city, Istanbul. She cries out that a woman has to be so brave to undress herself in order to exist in this world ruled by men, and this sets off her own journey. She starts with the attempt of becoming free of the social, religious and ethical obligations, and Lal faces the challenge of being aware of herself and her sexuality, and gets to know her body. With every single word the author aims to look at the woman and the man, and their relationship from a new point of view. She also assures that men can only realise their existence with women, and women can only exist with men.
